Good Organisation (Social Ventures) CIC
is a Community Interest Company (Reg No 11555159) that supports
disadvantaged people in York
to share in the economic benefits of tourism.
We offer training opportunities, manage small projects and provide personal development support to marginalised individuals across the city.
We aim to effect positive change with speed and passion.
Good Organisation (Social Ventures) CIC is writing and delivering a manifesto for equitable tourism.
We are currently undertaking research into the negative impacts of the sector, whilst simultaneously contributing to new thinking and strategic policy to deliver inclusive approaches to tourism worldwide.
The development of our projects would not be possible without the ongoing
support and commitment of more than 20 volunteers and mentors.
Although Good Organisation is legally incorporated as a Community Interest Company with three unpaid directors, our work is strengthened by an external voluntary advisory board
reflecting diverse community representation, with a further ten individuals drawn
from across the statutory, voluntary, heritage and private sectors.
Only around 27% of social enterprises utilise an independent advisory board
as part of their governance structure.
Unlike company directors or charity trustees, their inclusion incurs no formal legal responsibilities, but they provide important impartial advice, offer up different perspectives on our work, and their skills, knowledge and expertise help to shape the strategic direction of the organisation.
